Cinerama to screen Batman v Superman and The Hateful Eight in rare 70mm format

Film buffs and fantasy fanatics are in for a treat, as Cinerama will be showing two upcoming films—Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and The Hateful Eight—in a special 70mm format. The rare, high-quality format uses frames that are larger in size with a wider aspect ratio, creating a crisper, brighter and more high-definition picture.

Despite its high quality, very few theaters are equipped to show 70mm format films. In fact, Cinerama was selected as one of only ten theaters in the nation to show Batman v Superman in a special 70mm format for its first week, from March 25-31. The film will continue to run in regular DCP format with Dolby Atmos sound at Cinerama through April 14.

Cinerama is also proud to present a special engagement of Quentin Tarantino's extended "70mm Roadshow" version of The Hateful Eight from April 15-21. Moviegoers will be able to see The Hateful Eight as director Quentin Tarantino intended it to be watched, as the movie was filmed in 70mm format. Tickets for Batman v Superman and The Hateful Eight are on sale here now.

Paired with the theater’s multi-dimensional, immersive audio systems, these 70mm films will be a spectacle for all to enjoy. Cinerama’s technical prowess doesn’t stop at 70 mm film—the theater maintains state-of-the-art equipment for showing movies in all formats, from the latest 2D and 3D blockbusters to classic 35mm, 70mm, and original 3-strip Cinerama films.
