It’s time to take your place in the theater for Disney’s fantastic remake of The Lion King

It’s a movie 25 years in the making.

Since the original version of The Lion King was released in 1994, it has been a classic. Adored by generations of fans, it’s oft-considered the quintessential Disney epic of the 90s, if not of all-time.

The film is the highest grossing of all of Disney’s animation creations and it comes in 7th overall across their entire portfolio, one that includes Star Wars and Marvel movies.

Enter director Jon Favreau, the reboot/remake madness of the last decade and voila: a live-action animation reimaging of the classic tale. Simba, Nala, Mufasa and co. all return in what is being dubbed as a near replica of the original, with a new-age spin.

We’ll be celebrating the release of the esteemed favorite with a number of activities at Cinerama, starting on July 18. Can you feel the fun tonight?

Our partners Funko have updated their massive Pop! box to reflect the Lion King title and it will be on-hand and available for pictures and social media sharing for you and your friends and family. In addition, Funko has provided us with a selection of brand new Pop! figurines for the film, which will be distributed to the first 50 people through the door at the 6:00pm opening night showtime on Thursday.

The fun doesn’t stop there though! We’ll have cutout Lion King masks, coloring pages and puzzle pages for the young ones in attendance, as well as a special concessions combo on offer. For $10, you’ll receive a kid-size popcorn, a small fountain soda or juice box and a fig bar. What a roaring good deal!

So if you haven’t purchased your tickets by now, head right this way and experience the second coming of one of the movie events of the last quarter century…it ain’t not passing craze!

  • Star Wars Cosplay and Costume Policy

We’re as excited as the rest of you to return to a galaxy far, far away, and welcome our guests to dress in costume while attending a screening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Specifically, we allow full-body costumes, including helmets, but prohibit prop weapons such as blasters. Lightsabers are okay as well, but we ask that they are turned off during the movie in order to be respectful of other guests. We are expecting large crowds for our sold-out shows, and reserve the right to check guests’ bags. Please plan to arrive early to find parking, purchase concessions and locate your seats. Thank you in advance for your cooperation, and may the Force be with you!
