Join us in the stars with our latest film series: Faster Than Light
[UPDATE]: We've added a screening of Apollo 11 to the film series and it'll be showing on Tuesday, June 18 at 7:00pm!
Prepare to boldly go where few have gone before in our latest film series: Faster Than Light!
We’re off to explore the vast reaches of outer space with some of our favorite characters in this brand new film series, which comes ahead of the 50th anniversary of the moon landing in July.
Captain Jim Kirk, Ellen Ripley, Hal 9000, and even the great Neil Armstrong himself are just a few of those featured in the series with their adventurous mentality thrust to the fore. Traverse the vast depths of outer space and join in the tales of discovery, escape and mental fortitude.
Fittingly kicking off the series on June 14 is Damien Chazelle’s First Man starring Ryan Gosling as Neil Armstrong, during the lead up to the 1969 moon landing, which as mentioned, was the inspiration for this collection of films. Speaking of inspiration (of an entire genre in this case), one that needs no introduction, 2001: A Space Odyssey, by the venerate Stanley Kubrick follows that evening. This is also a 4K restoration.
We then dive into a pair of the biggest sci-fi franchises in the universe with a trio from the Alien family with Prometheus, Alien, and Aliens all on Saturday, 6/15. The next day on Sunday, 6/16, Star Trek (2009), Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, and. Not a bad weekend, sci-fi fans.
Returning to Planet Earth for the final film in the series, Steven Spielberg’s masterpiece Close Encounters of the Third Kind (also a 4K restoration) dives into the daunting prospect of outer space coming to us. You know how that all goes from there.
So please join us for the laser projected screen, Dolby Atmos sound, and of course the chocolate popcorn, which we hope will slake your thirst for the infinite reaches of the galaxy.
